Introduction to Drawing Mandala Art

First of all before you start drawing mandala art that best way to start is understanding what it is. “The word “mandala” is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean “circle,” a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself–a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.” This was one of the best description I have found of mandala art as it explain the true representation of what it symbolises, by understanding Mandala art, you can then gain an understanding and a deep emotional connection when drawing it. When Drawing Mandala art it will require preparation, patience and paying attention to detail. Once you have understood that then its easy and simple to do! Mandala is made up of small repetitive designs that when put together look Symmetrical, intricate and beautiful. On my blogs I will be showing step to step tutorials on how to draw Mandala art, but first you would need the required equipment, this includes:

  • A Protractor
  • Compass
  • Pencil,
  • Short Ruler
  • Long Ruler,
  • Rubber
  • Fine liner (preferably black, but you can have as many colours as you want)
